Carabistouille

Durant notre périple en France, nous avons observé à plusieurs reprises le moro-sphynx (Macroglossum stellatarum).

Ce papillon est très répandu autour de la Méditerranée. Il migre vers le nord d'août à octobre. Il hiverne au stade adulte. Il survit rarement à l'hiver au nord des Alpes.

Nous l'avons aussi observé cet été dans le jardin (fin juin 2009).

Il a une envergure de 45 à 50 mm.

C'est un papillon « de nuit » actif pendant le jour. Il est facilement reconnaissable à son habitude de butiner les fleurs sans se poser, en vol stationnaire tel un colibri. De là vient son surnom de « papillon colibri ».

Toujours en mouvement, il est difficile à photographier.
